Rank and Status: Kenneth Robinson is currently Nim of Strike Force Association. The title Nim signifies the giver of all rank. Nim Robinson was unanimously nominated to this position by his peers in 2001 when their instructor Nim Maynard Stanley passed away. He has also been exalted to position of Grand Grand Master Order of the Samurai – Green and White – symbol of spiritual purity. Martial Arts History: Nim Robinson started studying the martial arts in 1962 in the US Army under instructor Al Nelson. He rose to the rank of brown belt in Okinawan karate. He started studying Tang So Do under Grand Master Kwan Wan Ahn in 1967 in Cincinnati, OH. In 1968 he continued his martial arts training under Grand Master Maynard Stanley and Grand Master Walter Fagan. He achieved his first degree black belt in 1971. That same year he won the Grand Champion in sparring at Central State University. From that point until 1989, he won numerous championships in various tournaments including grand champion in two Ban-Tu Opens, first place in kumite at the U.S. Open United Tae Kwan Do Championships, grand champion of the Buckeye State Championship, and grand champion at the Mid American Grand Championship, to name a few. In 1980 he was inducted in the National Black Belt Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 1991. And in 2002 Nim Robinson was inducted into the All-Star Karate Hall of Fame. He is one of the co-founders of the National Black Belt Karate Association. He is also co-founder of the school, Temple of Karate, which has over ten schools in Cincinnati and Atlanta, and is rapidly growing. Nim Robinson is also one of Karate Temple’s senior Dan holders. Contributions to Tang So Do: Nim Robinson has developed many Black Belts, Masters, and Grand Masters. Many of his students have won championships of their own and have successfully started their own Tang So Do schools, ensuring the continuity and permanence of the art. He is proud of the fact that his students have shown themselves to be men and women of character and have developed in other young people qualities honed by self-discipline and self-control. Nim Robinson has the distinction of being the first martial artist to promote seven men to 10th Dan, the highest rank achievable in the martial arts. In October, 2004, five of these men were honored by the city of Cincinnati for their outstanding contribution to the community. Mayor Tom Luken, and several members of the city council honored them with a city-wide proclamation. Personal: Nim Robinson is married to Master H. Jaycee Robinson and they have one daughter. He has five other children, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is a survivor of multiple myloma, a rare form of blood cancer. He helped train and did security services for former world champion boxer, Aaron Pryor. He has also provided security for Sylvester Stallone, Jesse Jackson, Harry Belafonte, Jim Brown, Minister Farrakon, and a host of others that have had to depend on him for their safety and wellbeing. He was the chief trainer for the Last Chance Academy and numerous other organizations. His personal mission is to so live his life that the use of his life outlives his life. |
